You have the perfect balance of the expert advisor, hard worker, motivator, world class organizer and declutterer, and psychologist/counselor/
friend. Downsizing is not easy, it means parting with things you love or have sentimental attachment to, but you managed to keep me focused on my new life and what I did not need -- and what I did need to do to create our new simplified, relaxed, peaceful home. You kept me going. My demanding job compounded the problem because I could only do this work on weekends. Yet I wanted to get the house on the market in the summer months. With you now joining me, this incredible journey and transformation began.
We emptied the garage of the condo where we were moving so it would be ready for us. In the house, we went through every drawer, closet and cabinet, as you helped me separate, categorize, plan and organize what would be donated, discarded or kept. You even took things to charities for me and stayed at the house when various workers came if I had to be at work. The impossible began to seem possible, but still daunting. Finally after hundreds of black and white trash bags and boxes, hours of hard work, we emptied the house.
Then work needed to be done to get the house in shape to put on the market. You helped me through that phase bringing me experts for everything I needed --- a great handyman to make repairs and paint the house, someone to replace the carpet, someone to haul away things in the garage and around the yard, someone to fix the pool pump and keep the pool perfect, and someone to move our belongings to the new house. You are an endless reservoir of resources, with the right person for any task and always the most competitively priced.
Lastly, our new home. You found ways to organize and arrange everything we brought to the two bedroom condo. From your design and organization of the kitchen, closets (too few and too small, but now they work), cabinets and garage, you changed our lives here too. Everything has a place and it is so easy to maintain and enjoy life. I have never felt so organized.
The icing on the cake is that thanks to your help and the collective work of your extended team, our house sold in 4 days! That is unheard of, especially now in such a depressed real estate market and economy.
Ilene, you have been a blessing to our family. Your dedication, talent, positive outlook and perseverance enabled us to sell our house and live beautifully where we wanted to be. You are the best at what you do and have become a close friend. I actually had “fun” during the process because you made a miserable situation as good as it could be (which was nothing short of a miracle).
I don’t know where to begin to express my appreciation and gratitude. Thank you Ilene, for getting us through this and settled in our new home.
